The colours

My friend Kelly and I decided to meet up for a photo shoot.  Our goal was to come up with something fun and colourful.  She recently purchased 2 multi-coloured fans that she wanted to use.  I really love the result and think the photo's are some of the best work.  Here is a sample.

The Ascot Street Festival and some exciting news

My wife dragged me to the Ascot Street Festival last night (15-6-13) and I'm very glad she did.  The weather was perfect (about 12c) and I took some great photos.  I have not spent much time in Ascot and found the area quite lovely.  After the street fest we drove to Portside and had a hot chocolate and some dessert.  That I could have done without because it was very sweet and it made me feel quite ill.  But live and learn.  Here are some photo's from last night.

Now for some exciting news.  I have recently purchased a domain and am currently setting up a brand new web page.  I hope to have it all setup in the next few days.  There will also be a facebook page to accompany the web page.  I'm going to give Photography a serious crack at becoming my profession.  I love my job but Photography is my passion.

Cabral Photography.

I woke up yesterday morning and took out the garbage from under the kitchen sink and proceeded to put the garbage in our outside bin.  That's when I came across this guy.  I believe he is called a Golden Orb spider and is not a particularly venomous spider.  The colours are amazing. If you look carefully you can see little water droplets on the spider.  This is the time where I wish I had a macro lens in my arsenal.  This was taken with a 50mm lens and worked through in photoshop.  Let me know what you think.

Cabaret in a box: Tales and songs of Brissie life

I had the please of taking pictures for Cabaret in a box by the wonderful Jenny Wynter for the Anywhere Theatre Festival  It was funny and wonderful and it really made my night.  She had some very special guests.  The first one was Belinda Raisin.  Who's song about past and future loved pets was brilliant.  The next performer and her wonderful Marianna Joslin.  Manic and acrobatic.  What a performance.  The last special guest.....or guests was the sublime Betty and the Betties.  Singing songs about past loves and breakups.  Here are the photo's.

Moon by The Australian Voices May 9th 2013

The Anywhere Festival is on.  I've been asked to photograph the festival.  I went to a rehearsal for Moon by The Australian Voices in a very bare room in Paddington and was blown away.  I was really excited for opening night.  I was so moved by what was happening on stage that at one moment I actually forgot to take pictures.  I was so involved in the music.  Luckily I came to my senses and starting taking pictures. 

I learned a few things......I wore a white shirt and black dress pants.  As a photographer my job is to walk around and capture the moment while not drawing attention to myself and to make sure I am not a distraction to the paid audience.  Wearing a white shirt does not help that.  In the future I will wear all black.  I also wore dress shoes which meant I couldn't move around very well and my feet started to hurt after a couple hours of standing.

Moon by The Australian Voices

The Anywhere Festival

A friend of mine sent me a message about the Brisbane Anywhere Festival.  The Festival showcases artists such as singers, actors and comedians.  They put out a call for Photographers to take pictures of some of the events.  I emailed them and I have now been included as one of the festivals official photographers.  My passion is music and I have booked 3 performances so far and I am still waiting to hear back from another.
